Jen McMahon

Originally from Northeast Ohio, Jen McMahon brings over 15 years of nonprofit leadership and development experience to her role at Legerton Architecture. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Anthropology with a minor in French from the University of Akron, grounding her work in a deep appreciation for people, culture, and community.

Jen’s career has centered on connecting people with resources and opportunities that foster growth and resilience. She spent more than five years leading her own nonprofit in East Tennessee, where she helped individuals exiting incarceration reintegrate into society through holistic farming, access to healthy food, and social enterprise initiatives. Before that, she served as a case manager for veterans experiencing homelessness and as a Homeless Management Information System Data Coordinator with HUD and the Tennessee Valley Continuum of Care, working to strengthen systems of support for some of the region’s most vulnerable populations.

For the past five years, Jen has served the architecture profession—first as Executive Director of AIA East Tennessee, and currently as Executive Director of AIA Western North Carolina, a role she stepped into after relocating with her family just before Hurricane Helene.

At Legerton Architecture, Jen is passionate about supporting both our talented team of architects and the clients we serve. She ensures that each project is carefully managed to meet client needs and financial goals. She is especially dedicated to supporting her colleagues’ professional growth by facilitating access to continuing education opportunities and helping them stay engaged with the evolving landscape of design and development in Western North Carolina.

Outside of her professional life, Jen values time with her family and continues to bring her love for community building into all she does.
