Jennifer Layer, Assoc. AIA

Architectural Designer

Jennifer is an Architectural Designer originally from Florida, where she earned her Bachelor of Design in Architecture with a minor in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Central Florida. Her early studies sparked a lasting appreciation for how design shapes communities at every scale. Jennifer continued her education at Clemson University, earning her Master of Architecture and graduating with honors in the top 20% of architecture students nationwide.

At Legerton Architecture, she brings an inquisitive and collaborative approach, striving to create designs that strengthen the bonds between people, their communities, and the landscapes they inhabit. She is passionate about creating spaces that foster belonging, whether among families or within entire communities, and believes the most meaningful designs are those that exist in harmony with the natural world. Her academic work has been recognized with several design awards, including the SARA NY Design Award of Merit and the AIA COTE Top 10 National Student Design Award.

Beyond her work in architecture, she enjoys leading a local photography club, exploring the mountain landscapes around Asheville, and relaxing at home with her cat.
