In our early conversations with these clients, sustainability and energy efficiency were a top priority, which informed the design process. The need to maximize the use of solar panels, for instance, determined the roof line. The use of natural materials, like wood and stone, were part of our proposal from the beginning.
This modern home is located in Town Mountain Rd, and like many sites in the region, the steep slope presented a challenge, but it was also an opportunity to take advantage of the amazing views and invite natural light into the home’s interior.
Aging in place was another priority, so our designers made sure the main level was finished at grade, contained a large great room, a primary bedroom suite, a mudroom, and a screen porch. A garage for three cars and an electric car charging station are also located on this level. The lower floor was designed to serve guests, with two large bedrooms and a living space. This level also contains the mechanical room and ample storage space.
