Historic Montford ADU

This 800 SF carriage house / Accessory Dwelling Unit was built in Montford, Asheville’s oldest historic neighborhood. The exterior was inspired by the main house on the property, designed at the turn of the century by architect Richard Sharpe Smith. The upper level is clad in cedar shakes with solid wood windows and French doors opening onto the owner’s private balcony. The lower level is slightly larger, clad in clapboard siding, and housing an open living / dining / kitchen space and combination bathroom and laundry room.
